Chemical Peels Overview

About Chemical Peels

Neem Medical Spa's Chestnut Hill location offers a range of customized chemical peels using exfoliating solutions such as salicylic, glycolic, trichloroacetic, and lactic acids to reveal more radiant skin. Our team provides chemical peel treatments that address a wide variety of skin concerns including wrinkles, fine lines, scars, uneven patches, and hyperpigmentation. Chemical peels work by applying a carefully selected solution to the skin that causes the surface layer to shed, allowing smoother, clearer skin to emerge during the recovery process. Peels can be applied to the face, neck, and décolletage. At Neem Medical Spa, our experienced staff is committed to helping you meet your aesthetic goals through education and the thoughtful application of skin-enhancing treatments.

 Variations in Chemical Peels

We offer several types of chemical peels across a range of strength levels, from light to medium to deep, to suit your specific skin goals. Recognized medical-grade brands available at our Chestnut Hill location include the VI Peel, PCA Peels, Enlighten Peel by Révé, and ZO Skin Health Peels. All chemical peels are performed by a qualified medical professional.

Light Peels

Many people believe that a gentle chemical peel does nothing for your skin. However, this form of treatment, even without going ultra-strong, expedites the turnover of skin cells. This means that the surface of your skin is not blocked by dead, damaged, and unattractive cells. Results of light peels, such as our ZO Stimulator Peel, may include the diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, a decrease in the appearance of scars and acne, an improved texture, and a beautiful glow. You can receive one of these peels on your lunch break and get back to your routine. We recommend that you get a light treatment around once a month for the ideal glowing results.

Medium-Depth Peels

Medium-depth peels penetrate more deeply into the skin and are best suited for more significant concerns like pronounced lines and darker pigmentation. The mild acids used in this level of peel actually have a mild anesthetic effect, which keeps the experience comfortable. Some skin sensitivity may follow, but discomfort is manageable. Patients typically plan medium-depth peels like the VI Peel around an extended weekend to allow time for the skin to settle.

Deep Peels

The deepest level of chemical peel delivers the most dramatic results but also requires the most recovery time. Deep peels can cause some pain and may leave the skin swollen, peeling, and itchy for several weeks. Our team will use an anesthetic beforehand to manage any discomfort. These peels are best suited for age spots, sun damage, significant acne scarring, or more advanced skin concerns. The VI Peel and Enlighten Peel are among the deep treatment options available at our practice.

What is Global Eyecon?

The eye area is often the first place aging becomes visible, and Global Eyecon is a multi-step chemical peel developed specifically to address it. This treatment can help reduce the appearance of eye bags, dark circles, droopy upper eyelids, and fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Sessions are quick, downtime is minimal, and results are noticeable. The process begins with a periocular peel to improve pigmentation around the eyes, which is removed after three minutes and followed by a neutralizing agent. A periocular solution is then applied to support depigmentation, improve microcirculation, and boost collagen and elastin production. A crystal fiber mask infused with hyaluronic acid is applied at the end to hydrate, while aloe vera and cucumber soothe the skin. Three sessions spaced approximately two weeks apart are typically recommended for optimal results.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Chemical Peels?

Your journey to healthier skin starts with a consultation. Our team will evaluate your complexion and help select the right peel for your concerns, which may include scarring, rough patches, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, fine lines, or wrinkles. While chemical peels are most commonly used on the face, they can also be applied to other areas of the body such as the back. Each treatment is customized based on your skin condition, goals, and preferred amount of downtime, revealing the healthier, more vibrant skin beneath the surface.

Treatment Technique

At your appointment, you will be positioned comfortably while an aesthetician ensures your skin is thoroughly cleansed. The selected peel solution is massaged onto the skin and left on for the appropriate amount of time determined during your consultation. The peel is then removed and a neutralizing agent is applied. Sun protection is essential after any peel, so we recommend bringing sunscreen or a hat for when you leave our Chestnut Hill office.

 ZO® Stimulator Peel

The ZO Stimulator Peel delivers visible results with no downtime, redness, or peeling, making it suitable for most patients. It addresses sun damage, age spots, mild acne, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles while stimulating collagen production and improving overall skin texture. A blend of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and citric acid removes dead cells and promotes turnover for brighter, clearer skin. Improvement is visible after a single treatment, and four to six sessions spaced three to four weeks apart are recommended for the best results.

  ZO® 3-Step Peel

Stronger than other peel options, the ZO 3-Step Peel targets moderate to severe melasma, acne, fine lines, rough texture, enlarged pores, and dullness. The three-step process uses a combination of salicylic acid, TCA, and lactic acid to exfoliate, followed by a retinol cream to repair and renew, and finished with a calming cream to minimize irritation and provide antioxidant protection during healing. Expect moderate peeling for five to seven days. The peel can be repeated every four to twelve weeks for deeper ongoing correction and is suitable for all skin types.

WIQO PRX-T33

WiQo PRX-T33 is an innovative chemical peel that promotes natural skin regeneration without the aggressive side effects often associated with traditional peels. It delivers immediate improvements in skin texture and laxity, reducing signs of aging for smoother, more youthful-looking skin by hydrating the deepest layers of the skin. There is no peeling, flaking, photosensitivity, or downtime involved. Treatments are administered weekly over four sessions to achieve maximum results.

What to Expect

The level of peeling and recovery depends on the strength of peel selected. Deeper peels can result in several weeks of peeling and sensitivity, while lighter peels may produce only mild flaking as the skin turns over naturally. Our team will walk you through what to expect at your consultation. Regardless of how tempting it may be, do not pick at peeling skin. Doing so can cause scarring. The nutrients being delivered to the skin during this process more than compensate for what is being removed.
