About PRP Therapy

Boston, MA board-certified internal medicine physician Dr. Rosy Sandhu is proud to perform platelet-rich plasma therapy (also called PRP) at Neem Medical Spa to help replenish your skin's appearance. PRP therapy is one of the most sought-after cosmetic treatments in the industry due to its natural origin and thrilling results. With your own platelets rather than foreign substances, the likelihood of allergic reactions is greatly minimized. Dr. Sandhu will evaluate your skin and your cosmetic goals in order to determine if PRP therapy is right for you.

The treatment uses your very own plasma to stimulate the skin, concealing the prevalence of wrinkles. PRP therapy is also sometimes performed in conjunction with microneedling in what is referred to as a vampire facial. To learn more about PRP therapy, call Neem Medical Spa in Boston, Lynnfield, or Winchester, MA to schedule a consultation. Dr. Sandhu is always excited to discuss the benefits of PRP as well as what it can do for your skin. Dr. Sandhu may recommend an alternative treatment, or additional services that would best help you meet your goals if PRP therapy alone is not appropriate.

Ideal Candidates

Individuals with deep wrinkles, droopy skin, volume loss, and uneven skin tone are usually the best candidates for PRP therapy. Since it promotes collagen production naturally, it's also a wonderful treatment choice for is valuable in promoting bone and soft tissue healing, and revising scar tissue. Inform Dr. Sandhu about any skin conditions, anemia, or blood disorders to decide if it's safe for you to undergo PRP therapy.

Treatment Techniques

After you're comfortably seated in one of our secluded minor procedure areas, a small amount of blood will be drawn from one of your arms. The vial of blood will be placed and spun in a centrifuge machine. After approximately 15 minutes in the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate, and are then ready to be injected. We will load your healthy PRP into a syringe and inject it into the predetermined locations. The platelet-rich plasma forms a gelatinous substance, which can be applied topically or injected to perform the treatment.

What to Expect

Plasma from PRP therapy naturally promotes the production of collagen and elastin to reveal tauter, more youthful appearing skin. As it will use your own blood, the risk of adverse or allergic reactions is basically nonexistent. You can expect your face to be a bit red following PRP therapy as traces of red blood cells can make it into the injection. Cold packs can be used on the injection area to minimize discomfort and swelling. Dr. Sandhu recommends you undergo treatments in 4 – 6-week intervals to maintain results.
